Golden State (Elusive Quality) wins the Pat And Les Holmes Celebration Maiden Fillies’ Stakes (Class 5) at Redcar for trainer Archie Watson, and Nick Bradley Racing.
Purchased for €65,000 at the Goffs February Sale, the filly was having just her third career start, this being her first on turf.
On a firm surface that she clearly relished, Golden State was given every chance by Danny Tudhope. Always near the pace, she was asked to win her race at the furlong pole and did so in taking fashion under a hands and heels ride.
After the race trainer Watson said ” She is by Elusive Quality whose stock go well on the all-weather and she had run well at Dundalk which is why we went to Wolverhampton first time, but the track was too sharp for her. This fast turf suited her”.
