On racing’s annual Super Saturday, Moon King (Sea The Moon) notched his fifth win in succession with a blistering performance at Chester.
Having been purchased privately in recent weeks off the back of his fantastic start to the season, he was making his debut for new owners Merribelle Irish Farm Limited here, and connections were rewarded with a dominant display under jockey Richard Kingscote.
Travelling strongly throughout he settled matters with ease at the top of the home straight, galloping clear and putting away his rivals by a commanding 7 lengths.
Moon King has been a revelation this season, rising 21lbs in the ratings since breaking his maiden in April. He has been terrifically consistent taking his racing extremely well and hopes are high that this progressive and talented young stayer can potentially step in to pattern company later in the season.
