Bomb Proof (Society Rock) makes a winning return at Beverley for James Fanshawe and owners C Fox & Shalfleet Partnership.
Having won in emphatic style on his sole start at York last term, the son of the late great Society Rock was made ante-post favourite for the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot before unfortunatley suffering a potentially career ending injury in the lead up to the race. His then trainer Jeremey Noseda retired some weeks later and Bomb Proof was transferred to the care of James Fanshawe, who had trained his sire Society Rock to win twice at Group 1 level.
For James to get Bomb Proof back to a racecourse is a huge achievement in itself, and for that return to be a winning one is a remarkable feat. He was sent off as 6/4 favourite under jockey George Wood, and justfied the price with a pleasing victory. Positioned in the rear early, Wood asked for more at the furlong pole and was rewarded with an explosive burst of pace which saw Bomb Proof forge clear in the final 100 yards going away to win snugly by 3/4 lengths.
After the race trainer Fanshawe said ”He’s very much like his father. It’s great to get him back winning, he has plenty of talent”
Hopefully there is plenty more to come from this talented sprinter. Bomb proof was purchased as a yearling for 100,000gns from the Tattersalls October Yearling Sales, for more information about upcoming sales please do not hesitate to contact us.
