Tilly’s Chilli (Excelebration) wins the valuable Royal County Handicap at Navan for Jessica Harrington and owners Richard Galway, Richard O’Sullivan & Ms Margaret Davin.
Purchased by EBS for 18,000Gns at Book II of the 2015 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, Harrington’s filly was completing a hat-trick of wins here, and did so in fine style under Tom Madden.
Having broken well and raced into an early lead, she raced into the straight 2 lengths clear of the field and still travelling well within herself. Sent for home outside the 3-furlong marker, the further she went, the greater the gap grew between herself and her rivals and she never looked as if he was going to relinquish her lead.
The filly still looks to be progressing and clearly has a fantastic attitude. After the race trainer Harrington said ” She has improved a lot and she has just continued her improvement. I think she will be better over 1m4f. I don’t think she’ll get into it but I sort of had the Ulster Derby in mind for her”.
